The Cambridge Security Initiative 2017 chaired by Sir Richard Dearlove former Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), provides a unique link between the worlds of business, government and academia. With unrivalled expertise in security and intelligence issues, the organisation integrates long-term historical trends, up-to-the-minute academic research with the experience of security professionals to deliver prescient analysis of current and future threats to clients and to its signature Programmes held annually in Cambridge.

The purposes of these programmes are: to provide an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students and early-career professionals with an intellectual or professional interest in statecraft and the interlocking themes of intelligence, security, defence and foreign policy to meet and work with leading academics from Cambridge, the UK and the international community and with practitioners from the intelligence and security worlds to examine the diverse and complex challenges faced by Western democracies.

The objects of the Charity are to advance education in relation to international security and intelligence issues through research, provision of educational programmes and collaborations in intelligence studies, teaching and research with national and international universities, the government of the UK and other nations.

The charity, established in 2017, offers unique educational programmes in Cambridge. The purposes of these programme are two-fold: to provide an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students and early-career professionals with an intellectual or professional interest in statecraft and the interlocking themes of intelligence, security, defence and foreign policy to meet and work with leading academics from Cambridge, the UK and the international community and with practitioners from the intelligence and security worlds to examine the diverse and complex challenges faced by Western democracies. Secondly, through the provision of funding, to promote the study and understanding of intelligence and security issues in UK universities.
